Offline Defragmentation

I am using PerfectDisk 2008 to defrag my hard drive. I want to do an Offline
Defrag, but when I try and do this, the computer tells me to do a chkdsk /r
/f c:/.
How do I do that? Do I go to Run and type chkdsk /r /f c:/? Sorry, but I
have never had to do a chkdsk before.

Right, Start/run, type:

chkdsk /r /f /c

If you want to know what the command does, run the command:

cmd

and at that prompt, type:

chkdsk /?

I should have asked you this before but I didn't. Is chkdsk /r /f /c the
best to check your disk or is there a better formula? Thanks for your help.

It depends on where you run it from. /r is the syntax from a recovery
console start, and /f is for a warm/cold boot.
