Offie xlsx file cannot be listed in "Recent Items"

I am experiencing the subject matter. Why have I lost the ability to have
xlsx documents listed in the "Recent Items"? Is there anyway to restore this
capability?

I am having the same problem...sorta.
If I open and close an excel document that is on the C: drive it shows up in
Recent Items, but if I open and close a file in any other drive it will not
show up even if I open from another drive and then save to C: it won't show
up. WEIRD.
