Sorry if this question was posted before. I am considering update from
Office 97 to Office XP.
Now, I see the existnece of office 2003. Please enlighten me what is the
difference between Office 2003 vs. Office XP? In addition, advise me
which one I should select for the update. Satoshi

Office 2003 is the current version. If you're going to upgrade at all, you
might as well upgrade as far as you can (and Office 2003 *is* as far as you
can from Office 97). In any case, it will be increasingly difficult to find
Office XP for sale, though it may hang around a bit longer than some
previous versions simply because Office 2003 cannot be installed on all
systems. The OS requirement, for example, is Microsoft Windows 2000 with
Service Pack 3 or later or Microsoft Windows XP or later operating system.
This does *not* include Me or any flavor of Windows 9x.

Do you mean that Office XP is not so popular? I don't get it.
Could you please elaborate more about this matter? That could help me
whether I should go for XP or 2k3.
My computers are currently run under WinXP. Thanks. Stashi

Office XP is superseded by Office 2003. Like last year's car models it will
get harder to find.

Windows XP superseded Windows 2000. Use it for the same reason - it's going
to get the most support in the coming years until the next version of
Windows appears in 2005 or so.

Hi Chuck,
Some more bells and whistles is all.
And it fixes some weaknesses in Word 2002, such as being
able to set the options for Deleted text when Track Changes
is activated. And a couple of bugs in the mail merge
interface.
