Office Assistant Problem

A message keeps popping up that says "There are no Office Assistant character files present on the system. Please run setup in maintenance mode and install at least one character." But when I put my CD in and run setup in maintenance mode, the only options are "Update", and running that doesn't fix the problem. What do I need to do?"

I asked Terry what version of PowerPoint was in use. I'll ask you the same - -

Surely this is a windows problem ..not powerpoint.
Why not go to control panel/add-remove programs/ microsoft office/ and
uninstall office assisitant in the 'custom install' section...
Unless, of course, you want office assistant on your system

This isn't happening just in Powerpoint, I run on a SBS2003 and all 5
computers are effected. They all run Outlook 2003 however run different
windows i.e Windows 2000, Windows 1998 and Window XP. When ever I open a
word or excel document it brings up an error that there is no office
assistant present, I have tryed to install them off the CD this did work
temp. however once I shut down the computers at night it was back to bringing
up the error. From all others that I have spoken with this seems to be a
problem once the new version of outlook is installed is this a linked problem
and is there a way to fix it?
I really don't care if there is an office assistante or not it's more the
error and "flashing" between programs because of it that is the problem.

THanks in advance
