Hi, I have office 2000 and outlook 2003. Whenever I go into Word, i get the
error that I cannot start office assistant, and if I would like to reinstall
it.

I have tried to reinstall and change the virtual memory as recommended, but
it still pops up. Can anyone suggest something?

thanks
joe

Your Office files are corrupted because of the 2 diff versions. Did you do a
custom installation of OL 2003 into a diff folder--not the default 'Microsoft
Office' one? You should uninstall both Off 2k and OL 2003, reboot and install
Off 2k and then custom install Outlook to a diff folder or install the 2000
version to MSOffice2000 and let the Outlook 2003 installed normally. When you
installed OL 2003, it corrupted your Office 2000 common folder--Microsoft
Office. Why don't you just upgrade to Office 2003?

thanks mary,

I actually unistalled assistant and it worked. in the ms office folder
there is 'office' for office 2000, and 'office 11' for 2003. Are these the
common folders, because they seem separate. and it's just more cost
effective to keep the other office products I believe is why we don't upgrade
to the whole office 2003. thanks for your help
