Using word installed on 2 PC's and networked. A word doc opened on PC1 works
fine fonts/ format/margins etc are perfect. Open same doc on PC2 and all
formatting is messed up (fonts/ format/margins are lost). Have tried saving
as template and theme with no success.

Please help....

Is Word on each PC set to use the same default printer? (They don't
need to be connected to a physical prniter, they just have to have the
appropriate printer driver, and it has to be selected.)

What you see is controlled both by the document itself, and the environment
on the PC, and it is perfectly possible for a document to look different
from PC to PC. What fonts are displayed depends on what fonts are installed
on the machine; Word will substitute available fonts for any unavailable
ones. Page formatting depends on the active printer. Whether or not the PCs
are networked is of no consequence, except that it makes it a little easier
to observe these differences. Saving as a Template will make no difference;
saving as a Theme doesn't make sense.

What specific differences do you see ("messed up" is not very descriptive)?

Hi Tony,

The problem is only ocuring on one pc.

When I open any of my documents on this machine the fonts are the same, but
they print incorrectly. The page format (margins etc..) are also incorrect
etc...
If I save and reopen the document on any of the other machines. . . it's all
back to normal, and prints correctly.

Is there any way i can save the pc's 'environment' from one of the machines
that works . .and import it to the one having troubles?

is there any way i can tell office to accept the last user's
'environment/profile' when opening the document on the 'bad' machine?

i have tried installing all of the online updates and even removing the
software completely and reinstalling. . . to no avail.

any ideas ?

thanks,

If it's a print problem, make sure you have the latest printer driver -
check the manufacturer's web site.

If margins, etc., are wrong, check the default page settings on the printer.

(a) What does "incorrect(ly)" mean?

(b) Is the printer driver on the errant computer the same as on all
the others?
