Office 2007 SP2 Install: BCM Update Failure

The fact it is working on one not the other would indicate some sort of issue
with the one it's not working on.

HOWEVER - as this is not an isolated issue  and there are more of us facing
this problem and not everyone has two machines to play with, I feel there
should be more impteus from MS to help resolve it - they are clearly aware of
it.

I downloaded this weeks updates and yes a new one came in for Outlook
(KB969907) - but after re-installing BCM after the update I found it did not
help this particular problem.

Since this is a long thread...

You have run Outlook as admin, to try to get around the "out of
memory" error? Which may have something to do with regular user not
being able to update Outlook's mapsvc.inf file.

I have now run outlook as admin, re-installed bcm, run outlook as admin and
received the same "insufficient memory" alerts and failure to open folders.

Removal of BCM returns everything to normal.

Firstly, running OL as Administator has no effect on the out of memory error
for my issue.

I had addressed the mapsvc.inf file issue (Vista-related) before as one of
the suggestions gathered through Web research was that this file was often
locked & needed to be unlocked in order to reinitate a successful install of
SP2 with BCM activated. Mine was locked & I did successfully unlocked it &
tried the reinstall with the same negative results with BCM on the isolated
..pst file.

Well, since you mentioned this I did a search for the file & it no longer
existed! I again did some Web research that took me to an MS Help & Support
page that suggested deleting the file (mine obviously already was) then
performing a Repair of Outlook 2007. Since I have BCM installed the OL
program was/is BCM for Outlook 2007 SP2. I actually took this a step further
& performed a Repair on it & Office 2007. After restarting the PC the
mapsvc.inf file was still missing & after taking nearly 5 minutes for OL to
load (!) of course I received the out of memory error.

My last step will be to uninstall BCM for Outlook 2007 SP2, & then reinstall
it using the standalone update file rather than going through WU. I'll first
do further research on the missing mapsvc.inf file.

If this last step fails I'm uninstalling SP2 alltogether & running SP1. Stay
tuned...

Rudy, I tried uninstalling SP2 - my system would not let me do it...
At the point I installed SP2 - I manually created a restore point.
I then installed SP2 which went through the process of creating a restore
point.

When I hit the problems - frankly I wanted my BCM more than SP2 so I rolled
back - could not roll back any farther than the restore point created by the
machine which stuffed me.

I got a new Windows Vista Ultimate laptop (HP). I have had the same problem
but it only occurred when I uninstalled an add-in. I can't open my pst files
at all but BCM works. I keep getting error message popups. I'm sure not going
to pay MS $250 to resolve a problem that should never have happened.

I'm managing 9 email accounts and have tweaked things just right. Now I get
to do it all over again (hour of uninstalling and reinstalling). MS needs to
fix this problem. I'm on the verge of going back to ACT! as a CRM and finding
another PIM/email manager. Outlook is becoming more work than it's worth. I
can't even send and receive emails right now. UGH!!!
