Office 2007 Beta

Installed Office 2007 Beta today but when I try to activate, Office says I'm
not connected to the internet whereas I clearly am. I've tried disabling all
firewalls - any suggestions?

I'm not sure on your activation issue - stay tuned.

Same issue. "Can't find internet connection." Already down to 42 uses left.
Guess I can just leave them all open, huh?

A hurry would be nice.

it activated fine for me on windows xp (tablet) but I'm getting that error
on vista. I'm guessing it's a firewall thing?

Same issue for me - but when I check my connection settings I see that I am
indeed connecting to 131.107.115.36 on port 443. I'll be watching this
space!

Anyway first impressions are that this is gonna be pretty nice software!

Glad to see it's happening to a lot of other people. I tried de-activating
the firewall. no luck there. Some pointers on this soon would be nice. 38
uses and counting.

Yes, same problem here. Activation fails and I believe that results in a
reduction of functionality. I cannot send mail (client does not support
authorization methods) and certain functions like 'purge deleted message' on
the menu bar seem to be disabled. And yes, I am connected to the Internet
(hence this message). I have also tried activating from Word2007 with the
same error message.

I'm having the same issue. I tried it on both my computers and no luck
activating...

I wonder if microsoft is working on this or if we're even asking questions
in the right place???

There are **LOTS** of messages about this on the general Office discussion
group. Concensus seems to be that this is an issue with the Microsoft
validation server. However, I have yet to see any 'official' response from
Microsoft but there are hundreds of messages about this issue. I suspect they
are aware of it. ;)

Yes indeed. I have the same issue. I've tried activating a number of Office
products, shut down my firewall and antivirus, clear open channel to the
internet and I am receiving the same error as all of you. Mr. Slovak seems
to have the best reasoning in that the servers are overloaded.

That's what we were told by MS. Some people are beginning to report
activation success after many tries, just keep trying at intervals.
