Office 2003 SP2 is the problem

The reason you can't see the update in Add Remove program Andre is it
seems to now have been included as part of Office 2003 SP2

I had this same problem with an old desktop I used that had Outlook
2k3, which at the time was SP1. I was able to remove the offending
update as described by Sue, restoring task update functionally, and
keep it from coming back and killing task updates again by selecting
'Don't show this update again' for this update from the 'Microsoft
Update' website.

I have since however moved over to a new laptop that came with a SP2
version of Office 2003, this laptop shows the exact same issue,
however I cannot remove the update and fix the task updates as the
update is no longer shown in 'Add Remove Programs' post SP2, I am now
stuck with this issue and cannot fix it.

I have tried uninstalling the update using the Windows Installer
command line interface as described in KB 903771 (see :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903771), however I can't find the
required GUID for the update using REGEDIT (likely because the update
was part of SP2 or the original Office install)

This is really frustrating as I previously used tasks every day to
assign and keep track of jobs for a small production team I manage.
This is one of the kingpin features that really makes me want to use
Outlook, however that feeling fades just a little more every time I
have to walk out of my office, down the stairs and into the production
workshop to get updates on jobs. (My boss describes this as getting
the information via 'SneakerNET' lol )

Is it likely that Microsoft will ever actually fix this issue properly?
