As far as I know all versions of Office back to '97 work. There is an
earlier version that does not because of bitness.

That's cool. Good thing to know if I ever go for Vista.

it's time to upgrade
Hi. An upgrade would be nice, but some of us can't afford another $800
(nz)dollars for office 2007,especially when office 2000 worked perfectly.

If you are having trouble installing Office 2000/XP, try turning off
UAC, reboot, then try the install again. Although, Outlook older than
2003, will not remember email passwords. I believe that's the only major
problem I've seen reported about when using Office XP on Vista.

Office 2000 Professional installed and is working fine on my Vista Home
Premium 32 bit.

Cheers michael, i'll give it a go an report back on the outcome.

I believe that's the only major

the other problem is Vista won't automatically apply updates. You have
to find all the patches and apply them in order.
Somebody might write a little program to make this easier -- download
all the bits and apply them in the right order -- even a list of URLs
would make like easier.

It is way down on my todo list.

I'm getting confused messages about runnung Office 2000 SR-1 Professional in
Vista Premium. Some say its OK , while other say not?
Can I ask for a few more inputs please?
Thanks in advance
Derek

Sure. It works fine. It doesn't work. It works fine. It doesn't work.

They only way your going to be able to tell if it works on your system is to
install it, no one can determine before hand if your going to have any
problems or not.

The results are iffy, the thing is, Office 2000 is not certified for Windows
Vista, but I have seen many installations of it that work just fine. Just
make sure you install all the Service Packs in chrono-logical order - SP1 -
SP2 - SP3 in addition to any patches and updates for the suite. But it works
quite well on Vista based on what I have seen so far.
