OExpress(importing old mail and addresses from 9x to xp home?

How do I get the old email and address from my old Win98
to my new pc that has Win XP home? I've tried copying the
Outlook express folder from C:programfiles to CD and
importing from the CD, but doesn't work. (can't view
the .wab file in the folder). Exactly what files do I
need from the old HDrive?
