Repair man upgraded me to OE7. Since then when I reply to an e mail it goes to the bottom of the e mail. I have
to scroll up , find the place for the curser . Very time consuming and annoying and I know it must be a simple setting. Could someone advise me where it could be. Thank you. Charity

For XP/SP2 , you can control top and bottom posting with this registry
change.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{GUID for the
identity}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0

Find the DWORD Reply At End

To bottom post, set the value to 1
To top post, set the value to 0
I keep mine at "1" since newsgroups prefer that, so you can read the thread
in order.

There is no official version of OE7. OE is being phased out and replaced
with WLM.
A great, free upgrade for your Windows experience.

Do you use some sort of "Web Mail"?
Otherwise - having IE7 has little to nothing to do with your email client.

What email client are you utilizing?
Outlook Express, Outlook 97, Outlook 2000, Outlook XP, Outlook 2003, Outlook
2007, Thunderbird, etc?

You are not clear in what you mean "goes to the bottom of the email".
Do you mean the original email message goes to the bottom of the Inbox?
Do you mean the replied mail goes to the bottom of the Sent Item box?

You are aware that if you right click on the header on any column, you can choose to sort the mail
in that box by either descending or ascending order by that heading?
So sorrry, I mean IE7....

This could be a web based email server with a bug, err I mean
undocumented feature, as I have noticed a similar problem accessing Live
mail with Firefox 2.0.0.9

How To Ask Questions The Smart Way

I assume OE6 SP2:

If you're comfortable editing the Registry, To reply at bottom, close OE,
then Start | Run and type in

regedit

Press Enter and navigate to this location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\GUID {Long string of letters and
numbers}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0

In the right pane delete
Reply At End
or set it to 0 (zero).

However, I've never seen an install or IE7 add that key. It must be
something else he did. Sounds like a tech from Big Store USA or something
like that.

The OP is using....
Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.3138

However there is no guarantee that just because he uses OE as his
newsreader, he also uses it for E-mail. *Many* people use IE as their
newsreader, but use another product (Outlook, for example) as their
E-mail client. I used to be one of them.

Hi Ken...
I gave him the registry hack ("reply at end") assuming he was using OE for
mail.
Is there a similar procedure for Outlook? Just curious

What "goes to the bottom of the email"?
