OE Spellcheck

S

Sirius

Hello,

If someone has more than one program that has a spell checker, which one
will Outlook Express use?
How can you tell the current spell checker and how would you change it?

Thank you.

From the OE Help File: Spelling:
To check the spelling in messages

Outlook Express uses the spelling checker provided with the following
Microsoft Office programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft
PowerPoint. If you do not have one of these programs installed, the Spelling
command is not available.

You might be able to find a 3rd party spellchecker that would work--try
using Google.com

MS Works provides spell-checking also.

Why ask here? Do you see OE in this group's title? No. Further, XP
has no spell check capability, either.

Ask elsewhere

Sirius, if you are new here, you won't realize that I didn't write the
rude message quoted above. It was written by a well-known troll in
this newsgroup, who seems to get a weird kick out of impersonating me.

Well, Mr. Troll, I was not able to find an "Outlook Express General" news
group. If there is one, would you please point me in the right direction?

Thank you.

You no longer have spell checking capabilities in some languages in OE6
after you install Office 2007
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932974

[More discussion: http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/11/13/80]

The spell checker in Office 2007 is not compatible with OE6. Try one of
these free spell checkers instead:

Vampirefo's Spell Checker for OE 2.x

TinySpell (checks spelling as you type)

Australian English Spell Check
(Also suitable for other English speaking countries.)

If you have an earlier version of Office available as well, see:

No, I am not new, and it's a shame about the troll.

I have a friend who has MS Office 07 installed on two pcs.
On one she had the problem of the spellchecker, being in another language
like in the article:
http://www.answersthatwork.com/Down...ker_is_French_after_Microsoft_Office_2007.pdf

So this got me curious. How does it work on the other pc unless there is
also another program doing the spellcheck,

Sorry, I don't know. I'm not an Outlook Express expert by a long shot.
I haven't used it in several years.

but I do not know how to find out.

What the troll says, quoted below, is a rude way to say it, but his
point isn't really wrong. If you would ask your Outlook Express
questions in an Outlook Express newsgroup, you would be much more
likely to get the answers you need, since that's where the Outlook
Express experts hang out.
