quicklaunch. i think only 3 at a time can be on the
taskbar. the others you need to click the arrow.
No, that's not correct. The size of the quick launch bar can be
varied (as long as the taskbar isn't locked). Just drag the right
edge of it to make it as big as you want.
Also note that, although the quick launch bar is on the task bar
by default, it doesn't have to be there. An alternative that can
work very well, especially for those running a large monitor at a
high resolution, is to drag the quick launch bar off the task bar
and to the left edge of the screen, where there's room to display
many more icons.
