How to add an icon on the quick launch?

Right click a blank spot on the taskbar and unlock the taskbar. If there
isn't enough room in QL, place the cursor over the right divider and when a
double headed arrow appears, left click and drag the divider to the right.
Drag the shortcut into the QL area and release. Lock the taskbar.

I usually use a program. How to add it's icon on the quick launch?

You can also delete the QL icons (right click, delete) - like some of
the QL icons Windows installs for you.

You can drag and drop QL icons in the QL area to arrange them in an
order you like.

The QL icons are really just shortcuts that are in this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\<your login name here>\Application Data
\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

You can copy, paste, create, delete QL options from here also.

Be careful not to drag something completely off one of your Windows
menus to the QL bar! Existing shortcuts drag and drop well, programs
from menus can be dragged right off the menu.

You can always get your program back to the menus if you have an
accident like I did - once.

I read that the Add to Quick Launch option is in Vista, but maybe not
in XP. It is not one of the right click (context menu) options on any
computer around here, but here is a solution that will certainly add/
remove the option from the right click menu with XP:

The VB script will add/remove a new right click option and you still
end up with the shortcut in the Quick Launch folder, but it could be
more convenient for some things.
