Oddball Native Screen Resolution - a Problem?

Hi

A friend is considering buying a Thinkpad with a native screen
resolution of 1400x1050. I have my concerns about this resulution,
especially if he wants to set the the display to 800x600.

Will this be a problem?

Will this be a problem?

It will work and be usable but the display will not be as sharp as at the
native resolution. How unsharp it will be I can't predict--some displays
handle off-design resolutions better than others.
