Odd startup/shutdown behavior

Hi,

Using MS Internet Explorer
Version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519

I often experience problems where I will click the short cut to open
Microsoft Explorer and nothing happens. If click it a few more times
it will eventually load. However if view the processes in Windows Task
Manager I will see multiple occurences of IEXPLORE.EXE. As you can
imagine, this becomes more annoying when you try to shut windows down
for the evening and you must click "OK" on message after message
describing a problem shutting down IEXPLORE.EXE.

I've run AdAware with it's latest updated database and removed any
"spyware" that it was able to find. No change.

If I uncheck "Enable Third-party browser extensions" from the list
under "Tools|Internet Options|Advanced" the problem seems to go away.
However, as expected I lose my Google Toolbar.

I've uninstalled google toolbar and re-installed their latest but this
didn't help either.

I'm doubting that there is a bug that blatant in the Google Toolbar and
I don't want to give it up. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks

Google Toolbar is causing lots of problems for IE. Most of them do,
eventually. Your choice I guess.

I was leaning towards the toolbars being the cause but thought maybe
somebody would know why. I have other computers using the google
toolbar that don't have these problems. Must be a combination of
hardware, software installed, and the direction the monitor is facing
;-)

Guess I'll put up with it - the price was right anyway.

Thanks
