Odd startup problem - W2K pro

Hi all. Very odd problem with W2K pro. When I restart the system I get an
error "Explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows..."
yada yada.

If I disable the network card, or just have the network cable unplugged,
then it boots fine and runs fine.

Ad-Aware found a few things but they are removed. Installed Antivirus and
it found a couple of Trojans and a backdoor, but they are gone now.

Anybody have any thoughts? Have replaced the NIC so have ruled that out as
well. Technet has been much help on this one. I'm guessing there's still a
backdoor or something running with it. How can I find what programs start
at program startup on W2K (other than
HKLM\Software\MS\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run)?
