Odd print problem in Windows98

Hi all,

I've got an old dot matrix printer that is externally powered and
connects via 25-pin parallel port. The printer has been working on a
Windows98 PC for some time.

I recently installed the printer on another (clean install) Windows98
PC, using the same driver. However, I am unable to print a test page
(or anything else). I believe that the parallel port is ok, as other
printers have been connected in the past. There is no indication from
the printer that it is receiving commands....

.....however, when I reboot the PC, the printer reacts and behaves as if
power to the printer was toggled (alignment of the print heads). Since
the power supply is external (not a USB printer), it seems that some
command/data *is* being sent to the printer. I can't figure out why
nothing will print, though.

I'm going to try printing from DOS....but if anyone else has any other
suggestions they would be appreciated. FWIW, the printer is installed
as a Panasonic KX-P1124.

Cheers,
Dave

Just a thought but some printers may not like ECP/EPP and prefers
plain old bidirectional. Try checking that in the BIOS
