Odd Internal Linking within IE7 messages

Friends, I am using WinXP home sp2 and IE7. I often receive messages with
internal links referring to other parts of the message. Until a month ago
these were working just fine. I would click on the internal link and IE7
would jump to the appropriate place in the message.

Now internal links are opening another tab which is empty of content. Any
suggestions as to why this is happening appreciated!

How often? How many messages have had this problem? Send yourself a message
with a link to test..

IE7, Tools menu, General tab, Tabs settings button. 'links in other programs"
set to 'same window.'
