ok i get this message whenever i try to do soemthing but cant ...like
install certain programs
"the proceedure point RichEdit10ANSIWndProc could not be located in the
dynamic link library
RICHED20.dll"
does anybody have a clue as to whats goin on or how to fix it
Mentioning what it is you're trying to do, and what with, would sure be a
help.
But, that kind of message means that on your system there is a wrong version
of a DLL.
DLLs are Dyanamic Link Libraries, and they are collections of functions and
procedures that programs call. In this case, it's a Rich Edit control,
which allows things like bolding, italic - formatting stuff. This file,
riched20.dll, is from Microsoft.
However, what's happened is that you've installed something that has changed
the riched20.dll to a version that doesn't have the procedure named
"RichEdit10ANSIWndProc", or not in a format that some other programs expect.
Or, you've installed a new program that didn't update that file, and so it
fails with this error.
Hard to tell you any more than that, since you kind of didn't mention what
the "something" is that you're trying to do, or with what, when this
happens.
One way to fix it is to use the System File Checker, but you need to have
an install CD do do that. Go to start, run, and type "sfc /scannow".
This may result in you having to reinstall a number of updates.
