Odd ball problem trying to get WinXP to share properly

right my Win2k is up perfectly and a win2k and WinXP box can
see each other but cannot access each other resources.

Further, when WinXP tries to access Win2k I type in the correct credentials
but get noot access / might not have permission error?

What did I forget?

Simplest is to place the same username and password combination on both
units and then set up the shared folders permissions. If you have same
username on both but different passwords then troubles arise.
