ODBC Update failed on linked table

R

Robert Kewan

HI,

I'm running an Access 2000 front end to a SQL Server 2000
SP3a back end (on a Win 2k SP4). All clients are running
MDAC 2.8 and the latest Jet 4.0.

My problem is one date field in one table - if we update
that field, we get an error "ODBC -- Update failed on
linked table" with Error 3157 in the title bar. I cannot
update this field directly from the linked table (via the
front end) nor from an update query on the SQL Server.
If I open the table on the SQL Server and make an update
to this field, it take a few seconds to "return all rows"
but eventually the update will save. There is a primary
index on this table and this particular field is also
indexed. My Query timeout on the SQL Server is set to
0.

I can update any other field in this table and even
insert new rows - but if I update this one particular
date field, I get the ODBC error.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

-Bob
