ODBC Resource DLL is a different version

Windows 2000 computer gets ODBC Administrator error: The
ODBC resource DLL (c:\winnt\system32\odbcint.dll) is a
different version than the administrator (c:\winnt\system32
\odbcad32.exe). You need to reinstall the ODBC components
to ensure proper operation.

How do I correct this? Microsoft Knowledge Base Article
170769 addresses downloading and installing the latest
version of MDAC, however, with a note that you cannot
install MDAC separately in a Windows 2000 computer because
MDAC is part of the system components.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what that note is about. I've installed MDAC nine thousand
times on a W2K machine. Hold on. I'll download and install MDAC 2.8 onto a
W2K Server SP3. (Although, I thought I remembered hearing that ODBC support
has been dropped, so it may not be in MDAC 2.8. That would surprise me
though.)

I just downloaded and installed MDAC 2.8 on a W2K Server. I'm not sure what
that note is talking about.

I did notice that it at least installs ODBC support for SQL Server.
