ODBC-linked oracle to access

Hi,

I have linked an oracle table to my access application
using oracle (9i version) ODBC driver. However, all my
end-users do not have oracle client or driver installed on
their machines. When they open the access application,
there is odbc error message saying connection error. They
can still see those access tables created in access,but
not the linked table from oracle. Does anyone know - -

1: Do the end-users have to have oracle 9i installed on
each individual machine in order to open my application?

2: Is there another way i can do without the need to
install oracle drivers or clients on all the end users'
machines?

any ideas?? TIA....

Yes - they need the Oracle client installed.
And a tnsnames.ora file.
And a DSN to use the service in the tnsnames.ora file.
And an ODBC driver - I use the MS driver for Oracle.

Amy,

You really need to install the oracle drivers on each
users machine to connect/link your access front-end to the
oracle database. I currently did that and now I'm having a
problem when I open some oracle tables It's showing
#deleted on all fields even though I've verified that
there's data on those tables. With some tables I have no
problem querying them. I hope it helps you...
