If I get a regular scanner such as the Canon 4400F, does the Microsoft OCR
scanner software work well? It is either part of Vista or Office
2007....TIA

I've never used it, but that scanner seems to come with OmniPage SE, which I
assume is a cut-down version of the OmniPage OCR software.

Microsoft Office comes with an optional tool which can be installed called
Microsoft Office Document Imaging.

I've been using it since it originally shipped with Office XP for my home
paperless office.

Both Microsoft Office Documents Imaging and Office Documents Scanning can be
found in Microsoft Office under the folder Office Tools. They both claim to
do OCR...

Hi,
Microsoft Office Document Imaging doesn't get installed by default. Try
doing the following to see if gets setup on your machine.

Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features
Click on Microsoft Office 2007 Click Change
Inside the "Installation Options" tree
Expland Office Tools
Change "Microsoft Office Document Imaging" to "Run from my Computer"
