O.T. How do I remove ads from videos?

B

More and more just about every video I've seen online regarless of the
site has ads attached to them. Can anyone please tell me how (if
possible) to remove these permanently? I tried opting out by using:

http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp

and

http://www.aboutads.info/choices/

but they still appear.

Thoughts/suggestions?

There are ad blockers. But you didn't say which browsers you use.
Maxthon v1 has a really great one built in. I don't know much about
Maxthon v2 ad blocker as I don't use it too often. And Maxthon v3
doesn't even have one yet. But IE and Firefox has ad blockers only as
add-ons.

I'm sorry, I should have included all my computer information before
posting.

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 running IE8 with XP, SP3, Windows
Firewall, Avira antivirus, Spybot (for updates only), Spywareblaster,
ATF and Hive Cleanup and all the programs work well together and are
up to date.

Thanks,
Robert

The way I'd approach removing the ads is to first download the video in such
a manner I keep it as a local file on the hard disk. This usually means
somehow getting IE terminated without it first deleting what it considersa
temporary file (which stops one from simply copying it as there's a
"sharing" conflict). Sometimes I've even hit the power switch to insure the
file remains after reboot unencumbered by "ownership" problems. The file is
usually in FLV format even if the extension isn't. I simply rename the file.
I then convert it to some other more usefull format, e.g. DIVX video with
MP3 audio using "Any Video Converter". I then use "VirtualDub" to strip out
the ad by saving a new file starting just past the ad.- Hide quoted text -

I appreciate the suggestion but I'm looking for a program (if one
exists) that do this for me without my intervention.

I'm asssuming you mean blocking the video ads while you're watching the
video in real time (as it streams in).   I don't think there is an ad
blocker for that, unlike for regular web page ads, but someone can correct
me if I'm wrong.  I've noticed that some YouTube videos have an ad
immediately preceding the video.

However, if you downloaded the video to your hard drive to save a copy and
worked on it there (the ad could be edited out), that might be another
story.   But I'm guessing that's not what you want.- Hide quoted text -

Yes, that is what I was talking about, but if there isn't a program to
remove them then I'll just have to live with it.

As far as web page ads I would also like to get rid of them as well.
I've tried opting out but they still remain and are very distracting
and I would prefer not to see them.

Thanks,
Robert

"Any Video Converter" just worked for me with a uTube video. I've tried
before using an older version with limited success and unsure if it even
works with other sites but as it's free might as well try it.
