while trying to send e-mail, i get a prompt for username, password and domain.
this has never poped up, and i have never set up a password on o.e., it will
not let me send e-mail.
am relatively new to this and would appreciate any help. thx

What kind of email? You might have incorrect POP server settings. Ask your
ISP for the correct server settings. Also go to Tools>Accts>properties of
your acct>Server tab: make sure you did NOT check Log on using SPA and do NOT
check My server requires authentication.

Is this a password for your OE *identity*, or for your mail server? More
likely the latter - verify that your mail account settings are correct (may
need to call your ISP for the correct settings; perhaps you need to
authenticate to the SMTP server).

Note - this is a Windows XP newsgroup. Best to ask OE questions in the OE
groups (not Outlook);

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x

Or check out www.insideoe.com for good OE help.

Dave whomever provide you with internet is where you
should get your answer ... But whenever creating a new
mail account you always need to set up a user name and
password , it just happen this time to pop up asking you
for this , its probably your ISP ( internet provider )
server having problems , check with them , give them a
call ... Or you can try adding your user name and
password and see if that works , If you don't know your
user name and password your ISP provider should , Call
them up and ask them what it is , also ask them if they
are having problems with there email server
