I have the Nvidia graphics card and the manufacturer of the computer says
there is a conflict with the Nvidia drivers and Vista that is causing my
problem. The problem is that the mouse and keyboard will not wake the
computer even though they are properly set to do so. Apparnetly, this is
caused by the aforementioned conflict.

Microsoft and Nvidia are supposed to be working on a patch but I haven't
been able to find one. Does anyone know of a remedy?

On MOST computers, you can resume your PC from sleep by pressing the
hardware power button. However, not all computers are the same. On some, not
most, you may be able to wake your computer by pressing any key, or clicking
a mouse button. PC manufacturers don't all do it the same way.

I have no idea about a conflict between nVidea video card drivers and Vista
Power Management. You'll have to take the PC manufacturer's word for it. On
my personal PC, I use the power button to wake it. Using the mouse and
keyboard to do this no longer works for me in Vista. I think that's the
default setting. You can learn more by consulting Windows Help and Support
under Start. Launch it and search on anything involving power.

I have no trouble with Vista 32 and the NVIDIA 158 series drivers waking up
my system with mouse or keyboard activity. It works exactly the same as it
does with XP.
I assume that the BIOS for your computer is up to date.

It may have nothing to do with your graphics card. But, just in case, what
is the make and model of your computer? And of your nVidia graphics card?

What kind of connection is used for your mouse and keyboard? PS/2, USB,
Bluetooth? A year or two ago, I tried to use a Bluetooth desktop set. But
I was dual-booting several versions of WinXP and Vista, so I had to select
from an opening menu of operating systems. With Bluetooth, this is not
possible, since Bluetooth doesn't function until after Windows is loaded,
including the Bluetooth drivers. Classic chicken-and-egg problem. (Also
known as Catch-22.)

Something like that might be happening to you: the keyboard can't wake up
Vista until the keyboard driver is started by Vista.
