Nvidia Video Cards..

This weekend, I attempted to upgrade my video card from a Quadro FX 1100 to
a 7800 GS.
Because both card are listed as "supported" on the hardware compatability
list & they both use the same driver, no priblem,eh...
I'm running the Beta 2 Build 5384, 64 bit o/s.
The 7800GS card crashed my system, time & time again. I have no idea as to
why.
I tried everything I could find to make it work, read the latest driver
release notes, but nothing could make it stable.
I ended up returning the card & re-installed the Quadro FX card.
Just in case, if you're wondering, the Quadro FX card has only 128mb,
whereas the 7800GS had 256mb....

That's the error; in fact, the cards use different drivers from the
same driver package...

I unistalled the drivers for the Quadro FX100 when I installed the 7800GS
card & reinstalled the driver package.
It still didn't work.
I contacted Nvidia, their response was claasic...
"No and unfortunately we are not able to support Vista questions until it is
a fully operational OS. I think the decision to go back to the card that
works is a good one. When Vista is released by MS, we will answer Vista
related issues on this site."

You needed to go to the Nvidea website and download the Vista
drivers.......not the drivers that came packaged with the card.
A lot of us here are running various Nvidea Video cards with their Vista
drivers quite nicely.

Try Windows Vista update services.
I was installing Vista build 5472 on a pc with a Apollo Geforce FX 5500
card. During installation Vista went to the Microsoft site and picked up the
correct nvidia drivers.
Kind regards,
Tony Thijs
