Hi, I have a nvidia asus en6800gt 256mb gddr 3 and it is running slowly in
vista ..

my specs :
asus a8n-sli premium motherboard
1gig ram
a64 3800+
500gig hd

in the previous release of vista, I was able to run aero really fast with
the 3d switch etc .. no problem .. but now its slow I have the 88.61 drivers
and nothing change .. aero is slow to the point I can't use it ... what's the
problem ??

I have seen that several times. Last build x64 zipped along and x86 was
popping the performance alert all the time. This build x86 is doing much
better but x64 is not nearly as responsive. I guess the way the drivers and
software interact is a matter of fined tuned timing after each change to one
or the other.

My experience is just the opposite of Colin's observations. Under x86 I was
getting performance alerts within minutes of booting up. Under x64 not a
single one yet. Same system and setup otherwise (Quadro FX3400\256mb)

There is some bug in the drivers that makes it run really slowly.

I have the same problem on my 6800 Ultra.

To get around it, download + run a very basic OpenGL program (search Google
for one that spins a ring around or something).
Doing that seems to kickstart the card into accelerating properly and Aero
will fly once again.

You'll need to run such an app each time windows boots, so it's probably
easiest to put it (or a link to it) in your startup folder.
