Number of icons shown on Taskbar

I just changed from Win 2000 Pro to Xp Pro and and customizing the taskbar to
include the program shortcuts I use often, and I am annoyed that it only
shows 3 icons at a time and I have to click on the small arrows to revael the
others in a small popup window. I'll probably get used to it in a week or
so, but immedite reaction is I don't like it.

Is there any way to change the number of icons shown on the taskbar?

To lengthen the Quick Launch Bar, right-click on the taskbar to unlock
it. Grab the extender you'll now see and resize to taste. Relock the
taskbar if you desire.

IE's toolbars work in a similar fashion.

Right click on the task bar and deselect "Lock the taskbar". When you do a
small divider will show up to the right of your quick launch toolbar. Drag
it to the right so you see as many as you like. Then turn "Lock the taskbar"
back on so you don't accidently drag it the other direction.

Thanks. I don't recall having the lock the taskbar option in 2000, but maybe
it was and never used it, as I dragged the divider between the quicklaunch in
2000 without having to unlock the task bar

I'm pretty sure 2000 had that option as well.

You can also add custom toolbars by right clicking in the taskbar and
selecting 'Toolbars' then 'New toolbar'.
