Number Inputs

Hi,

Sorry, a bit of confusion there. What I want my output to
read is:

If positive number of entry, then in Accounting format;

If negative number on entry, then in Accounting format but:

(i) with NO NEGATIVE sign in front of the £ sign;
(ii) the £ sign still to stay to the far left of the cell;
(iii) the number to appear in red;
(iv) the number to be enclosed in brackets.

Hope that clears up what I'm looking for!!!

Also, in the Custom format selection, what do the * and
the _ do the the format?

Many Thanks,

Gary.

In future, please keep your follow on posts in the same thread so people can
follow the conversation.

The * fills the field with the following character. In the standard
accounting format, the * is followed by a space, so that's what fills the
cell between the currency sign and the first number.

The _) aligns numbers properly. It says "save space for a closing bracket
even when the number is positive". This way positive and negative numbers
align properly.

You can get complete information on number formats by using
Help>Format>Custom
