Number format

When copying a number from an email like 260016008390 and pasting into Excel
2003 it gets changed to
2.60016E+11

How can I prevent this from happening apart from using paste special and
selecting text.

If the cell width is too small... widen the cell to show the whole number.
If you're not calculalting with the number, format cells as text, and if the
number starts with a zero, it will keep it...

How about just changing the format of the cell (or column of cells??).

Select the range
Format|cells|Number tab|Number|(0 decimals???)

And widen the column if you see ####'s.

If you copy/paste something into Excel, it will overwrite the
formatting you may have set up beforehand. You have to use paste
special | values, which you want to avoid. You can set up a simple
macro to do this for you if you want to avoid all the mouse clicks.

Hope this helps.

Did you format after you pasted?

You may want to share the steps you tried.
