Null value in table

I have a form with 4 fields

1. Mark 1- Number
2. Mark 2 - Number
3. Mark 3 -Number
4. Total - Number

The total field is calculated as follows =[Mark1] +[mark2] +[mark3] . This
rule is added in the control source property in the properties.

The values of mark1,mark2 and mark3 are stored in the table but not of total.
total is stored as 0 in the table.
Should this rule be added in the table somewhere.

Do *not* store the total in a table.

Rather, use a query to get Access to calculate the total for you, and it can
never be wrong.
