i m using a AMD Sempron 2800+, MSI K8VVM Motherboard, 512 MB RAM. Windows XP
Professional is loaded in the machine. I am quite happy with the performance
of the software. But while I run a custom based software developed on Foxpro
2.6 Dos named Easytax , what I can see is the application "ntvdm.exe" is
using almost 99% of the CPU resources. As a result of this while I want to
work in some other application such as word , excel or powerpoint the
machine does not respond in satisfactory time resulting in slowing down the
system.

I am waiting for the solution at the earliest.

Something is running under DOS - command.com at that.

Download the preferred spyware detection software, scan your machine.

run MSCONFIG and see what would be running this.

(Start | Run <type in>
MSCONFIG
<enter>)

Download and run Process Explorer
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx
Double click on the ntvdm process, reading it's image will tell you
what started it and were it's located.

Kill the ntvdm process in taskmanager to make tracking it down easier
(less cpu usage)
