NTLDR missing and system wont boot.

my partners PC suddenly stopped booting with error message NTLDR missing

can i copy my Ntldr file from my own PC to hers? or do i have to re
install??

I cannot get option to repair install tho :(

There are 2 ways to fix this that I know of, here is a link for the first

The second way
This is from another post,compliments of "Will Denny"


Try this:

Boot with your XP CD in the cd drive. Select 'To repair..' by pressing 'R'.
When in the Recovery Console type the following:

"copy X:\i386\ntldr C:\" - without the quotes.

Where X is the letter of your CD drive and C is the letter of your system
drive. Take the XP CD out of the cd drive and reboot into XP normally.

Step 1: If you have a floppy drive, make sure there is not a floppy
disk in it.
