NTLDR missing after applying XP security upgrade

I apply every XP upgrade as notified by the XP upgrade
pop up.

After applying the latest on July 25, when I restarted
the machine, I received the message:

Verifying DMI Pool Data
NTLDR is Missing

I am running a near new machine with a OEM supplied
version of Windows XP Professional.

boot your PC from your Windows XP CD into Recovery console.

After you successful load Recovery Console log on to Windows (chose OS) and
type your Administrator's password run commands fixboot and fixmbr
