"NTLDR is Missing"

My Windows XP Professional crashed a couple weeks ago.
Sunday I posted my difficulty getting it to reboot. I was
referred to some wonderful articles which I printed and
have followed. I have made progress but now I am getting
the error message "NTLDR is mising." The only article I
find relating to this is referencing upgrading or
installing Windows XP over another version of Windows.
That is not my case. My computer was built with Windows
XP Pro as the orignial operating system. Any suggestions
on what I might do to get beyond this message?

First, make sure that you are booting from the correct
drive. Those settings are in your BIOS. Then, Boot from
your installation cd and select repair. Do a fast repair,
and then try too boot hard disk.

Hi, Norma ...
I assume you have the XP CD and can boot from it. Go to the Recovery
Console and copy the files 'NTLDR' and 'ntdetect.com'
from the XP CD to your root directory.

Assuming the root directory is C:\ and your CD is D:\ (change as
neccessary) you would type in the following:

copy D:\i386\NTLDR C:\

copy D:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:\
