PC Configuration : Celeron 667, 10 GB HDD, 128 MB RAM. There is no
partition on HDD

Earlier my pc was working just fine. but now a days when i boot the PC
for first time XP is loaded without any errors.

But when i shut down the PC and starts it again i see the message

NTLDR: couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partion(0)
color of the screen is black.

and then i cannot load xp.

Then again after waiting for some hrs. and booting again xp loads
normally without any error.

I tried installing XP thrice (2 times on NTFS) and once on Fat32 file
system. Every time i have installed XP i have formated the drive.
Currently FAT32 is the file system and there is no partition only C
drive is there on which XP is installed.

Can someone help me sort out this problem.

I suspect a marginal hard disk, perhaps temperature dependent.

Check to see that all the internal fans are working correctly and not clogged or obstructed.
Reseat the memory, or try 1 stick at a time.
Leave the case cover off to see if it runs cooler and stops the error.

Check the SMART status of the drive. DiskCheckup (Freeware)
http://www.download.com/3000-2248_4-10193820.html

The one SMART parameter worth watching is the number of spare sectors left.
When these run out, the drive will start getting visible bad blocks. If this starts
to fall on a daily/weekly basis - time for a new drive.
