NTFS Partition Merging

A

Andrija

I recently uninstalled Linux and I ended up with 3 extra partitions.

All of them are formated in NTFS, so empty, and i have:
C: - system
D: - data storage

I want to merge the 3 extras into D without loosing any of the valuble data
on it.

How do I do this, partition magic 7 (and some chinese version 8) wont work.

What program will?

Thanks!

If your data is valuable then you must back it up.
This allows you to delete two of your three existing
partitions, expand the third with PQMagic, and restore
your data from backup.

If you do not wish to backup your valuable data then
it is not valuable, simply because any disk can fail
at any time, without warning, resulting in total loss
of all data. I have seen it happen. More than once.

I agree with Pegasus -- if that data is valuable, you'd better have a
backup, regardless of whether you're doing partition work or not.

As for your PM problem, I don't see why it won't work. Just delete the
three extra partitions (you said they're all blank) and then resize the D:
partition to take up the unallocated space.

PM 7 only supports hard drives to 80 gig (or did unless the later
patches changed it). You also need to make sure you have the latest
patches.

I had PM7 wreak havoc on a 120 gig drive when the drives first came out.
Powerquest told me "120 gig drives are not supported". Luckily I had a
backup.

I would recommend getting PM8 but I don't know what differences there
would be in the Chinese versions.
