Hi

Finally got round to installing windows XP after using windows 2000
for well over 3 years. The problem I have got it that one of my hard
drives with 20 Gig of files is not now accessable.

I believe I choose for windows 2000 to use the security options and
only let the old admin change and view stuff.

After a total format of c: I can see the drive, but when ever I click
on it up pops "Access denied" - I did it so long ago I forgot about
the security stuff.

Any way I can bypass the lock out and get back at the files?

Thanks

Rich

Not sure I understand exactly what you did but if you formatted
drive C, your data is gone along with your old Win2000 installation.

If you're talking about data on another drive or partition that you
can not gain access to, that means you have not taken ownership of the
drive and its folders.

Are you logged in as ADMINISTRATOR (or equiv) in your new XP setup when
you try to browse the second disk ?

PGP is all backed up on a serperate computer.

Managed to fix it now thanks - Admin in safe mode and taking
ownership fixed the problem.

Got all 20Gig of my emulators back now

Thanks.

First step is do disable your PGP stuff before you forget that info
also.
