NTFS error

After changing a 40 meg Maxtor drive from fat32 to ntfs, I
am getting a 0x0000000A less than equal error. Computer
opens OK in safe mode. There are no driver conficts that I
can see and I have unplugged hardware with no change.

OS is XP Home, computer Dell 4100, 833 mhz, 512 ram.
