ntfs - bad sectors

I tried to resize an ntfs partition G:\ (not bootable) with
partition Magic 8, but could not do it because of bad sectors.

If I delete G:\ and format as NTFS (adding free space that
exists between G: and H:), will that get around the bad
sector problem?

If it did, then I could copy the backup to G:\ and be all set.

Go to the hard disk manufacturer's web site and download their diagnostic software
respective to your hard disk.

Quantum/Maxtor - PowerMax
http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/downloads/powermax.htm

Western Digital - Data LifeGuard Tools (DLGDiag)
http://support.wdc.com/download/

Hitachi/IBM - Drive Fitness Test (DFT)
http://www.hgst.com/hdd/support/download.htm

Seagate - SeaTools
http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/

Fujitsu - Diagnostic Tool
http://www.fcpa.com/download/hard-drives/

Samsung - Disk manager
http://www.samsung.com/Products/HardDiskDrive/utilities/shdiag.htm

After the test, you will know if the hard disk is bad or
not.. Then if the hard disk is GOOD, you'll need to

1) Open a Command Prompt
2) Execute; CHKDSK /F
If it replies..
"Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.
Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system
restarts? (Y/N)" -- Choose - Y
2) Reboot the PC.
3) Let the PC perform a full Check Disk, the PC will then reboot into the GUI
