Hi,

since yesterday I receive the following error in the eventlog and
NTFRS is not working any more between our 2 domain controllers:

The File Replication Service cannot start replica set DOMAIN SYSTEM
VOLUME (SYSVOL SHARE) on computer <computername> for directory
d:\data\sysvol\domain because the type of volume <null> is not NTFS
5.0 or later.

The volume's type can be found by typing "chkdsk <null>".

The volume can be upgraded to NTFS 5.0 or later by typing "chkntfs /E
<null>".

Both domain controllers report the same error. I've tried ADSI Edit
but the path listed there for the fRSRootPath and the fRSStaginPath is
correct and accessible. Any ideas ?

Franc.

Hi Franc,

Root path and staging paths might be fine, but did you make sure that your
volumes are NTFS5.0 or later. FRS only works over NTFS volumes.

Hi,

I narrowed it down to PowerQuest V2I protector, this was also
confirmed by their support department and they are working on it. As
soon this program is imaging the drive the error occurs... Our volumes
are all NTFS 5.0 by the way.

Hi Franc,

Did they confirm that they have inter-op issue with FRS or NTFS?
