NTFRS 13505 error

G

Guest

Hello all,

In my AD network on one of my DC I'm getting alot of NTFRS 13505 errors,
that state: The File Replication Service has stopped after taking an
assertion failure. This server is GC and does not hold any of the FSMO roles.
All DCs are at SP4.

The error pops up in the event viewer everytime I start the FRS service. No
other errors.

Thanks

Nitin

Hello,

Thank you for posting.

I understand that one of the Windows 2000 Domain Controller is displaying
error 13505.

Please perform a complete backup of the system before performing the steps
below.

Please try the following steps and check if it resolves your issue:

Rebuilt the FRS jet database
1. Stop Net Logon and FRS on the domain controller.
2. Rename the Ntfrs.jdb file in the Windir\Ntfrs\Jet folder.
3. Rename the Edb.chk file in the Windir\Ntfrs\Jet\Sys folder.
4. Rename the Edb.log file, the Res1.log file, and the Res2.log file in
the Windir\Ntfrs\Jet\Log folder.
5. Restart the domain controller.

I hope the above information helps to resolve your issue. If there is
anything unclear, please feel free to let me know. Thank you and have a
nice day!

Hi Rashmi,

Many Thanks.

Please suggest, what about going in for a FRS non authoritative restore?

Cheers, Nitin

Hi Nitin,

I found that one such issue was resolved by performing a non-authoritative
restore of the FRS volume set. You can try that as well. Hope it resolves
the issue.

Thank you,

Rashmi
