NtBackup

XP Pro all service packs and updates installed. When NTbackup is run by the
scheduler it starts then quits a couple minutes later with no erroes. It
backed up 2 files then stopped as if it backed all selected files but it did
not. Check the files selection and all looks good. If backup is started
manually it works correct. It only does not work when scheduled. Any ideas.

Thank You for any help.

Check your scheduler options for this job. There are choices in there
to terminate a job if it is running a certain time after it is started.
Normally they are set to a long period, and don't need to be altered,
but perhaps in this case a default has been changed.

- What does the backup log report?
- Where do the files to be backed up reside? On a network share?

The log file shows the 2 files backup, the time of the backup as if all was
correct BUT it is not. If the same backup set is started manually it works
correctly.
Trying to backup files on the local drive and the files to be backed up are
in a shared folder. It is possible that someone has some files open but
shadow backup should take care of this.

Backup report does not show any errors. The folders being backup are one
folder with its sub folders a total of 1.2 gig. This is a computer that
someone turned on Remote Assistance and attempted to have someone connect.
They stopped the backup and disabled the antivirus software. Their attenpt
for Remote Assistance failed because of the hardware firewall. Could they
damaged a file used by the schedular in their rage to get Remote Assistance
to work. The backup was working correctly right up to the attempt to setup
and use Remote Assistance. Think I will remove backup and reinstall it.
Remove and reinstall seems to be a Windows norm. Will be out until this
afternoon. Pegasus, you must be in China or have the same poor sleeping
habits I do.

Thank you for any help.
