NTBackup Verification

Does anybody know the Event ID that would come up if the
verifcation of backup file showed that it was corrupt?

My goal is to be able to scan the eventlogs for backup and
verification failures.

Thanks for your reply, but how do you do that with
NTBackup? This is the native backup program that comes
with Win2K that I'm using and as far as I know an e-mail
option is not built in.

Even if I did find a way to send the logs in (and I know
there are ways to do it, blat for example) I only want to
be notified if there is a failure. We will have a server
in each of our retail locations which is currently 103
(and counting) and I don't want our support people to have
to review each store's log every day.

I'm working on the basis of using a VB script to scan the
event logs for certain event ID's. I know the ID's for
failed backups and verifications but I'm not sure what the
event ID is for a verification on a backup file that is
determined to be corrupted. It may be the same ID as for
a failed verification but I'm not sure. That leads me
back to my original question: what is the event ID for a
verification on a file found to be corrupted?

Um, why not scan the ntbackup logs for the string "Verify failed" or
whatever? Then if you get a failure, send the rresult to the admin.

That's basically what I do, except that I don't bother with the verify
- it would more than double the time of the backup. I just check that
the backup worked. (And periodically do a test restore.)

Cheers,

Cliff

Good Point...

For some reason, i thought this was about NetBackup... it must be the extra
"E" that my dyslexic eye added in there...

sorry,
