NTBackup.exe fails after SP1a

We have 3 PCs that lockup during the data backup procedure
from XP to writable CD in Windows XP. This problem
started when we applied XP SP1a. Any guesses?

If the backup was made before you installed sp1 then you
have to restore to a pre sp1 system.

If it was made after then get the sp1 , then install.

restore of the backup with the system state and it fails
with a
STOP error c0000139 {Entry Point Not Found}
