nearly every time on internet system shut down appears
with nt authority\system shutdown and rpc can any one
help please

To stop the rebooting/shutdowns, right click on the task bar, choose task
manager, processes tab, look for msblast.exe. Highlight it and click end
process. Then turn on the xp firewall.

To turn on the firewall: control panel, network and internet connections,
network connections, right click your connection, properties, advanced tab,
check the protect my computer box. Do this as quickly as you can once the
desktop comes up. Then visit the sites below for the removal and patch info.

Agree with other posters.

This can happen in as little as 30 seconds as I've recently found out with
one brand new HP Laptop, one PC upgraded to Win XP and one laptop upgraded
to Win XP.

1) Make sure you are running an anti virus and it is on auto protect.

2) Download windows updates. If you are on dial up like I am, it will take
a long time. I wonder if MS made the service pack available on CD rom?

If I had to see more icons on my tray I'd go zonkers. Two background
apps are enough for me. One is a pinger and the other is a date/time
thinggy. I dont need no darn anti-virus or firewall running 24/7 For
a client tho, I fully agree with your advice.

If your on dial up then you can only run them when your online. If your on
broadband, 24/7 is a must. In almost 15 years of computing and 8 years of
being online I have never been hacked and I have never had a virus. This is
due to good habits, av program, and firewall.
BTW - I have 3-5 apps running in systray all the time. I don't use the xp
clock so they don't bother me or take up that much space in the task bar.
